SDTV Adjust: Use the controls in the SDTV Adj. sub-menu to improve the display of
standard-definition signals. These controls allow you to make adjustments independently
for each SD signal type (as opposed to the per-input controls in the
Picture Adjustment
menu).
•Setup: The Brightness and Contrast settings made in the Composite, S-Video,
Component YCbCr and Deinterlacer Adjust sub-menus can be recalled by choosing
the associated Video Black Level, either here or in the
Video Black Level sub-menu
(refer to Video Black Level on page 60).
• Composite, S-Video: Select Composite, S-Video from the SDTV Adj. sub-menu to
adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation (color intensity), hue (tint) and sharpness of
Composite and S-Video signals. Refer to Picture Adjustment on page 46.
• Component YCbCr: Select Component YCbCr from the SDTV Adj. sub-menu to
adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation level for SD Component signals.
• Overscan Adjust (Read-only): Select Overscan Adjust to display the incoming signal
format and the amount of horizontal and vertical overscan. To adjust the over-scan
percentage, refer to Image Over Scan, below.
• Deinterlacer Adjust: Select Deinterlacer Adjust to adjust the contrast, brightness and
saturation level for interlaced (480i or 576i) video signals.
• Video Decoder Adjust: To optimize the display of SD Component video signals,
select Video Decoder Adjust and adjust the gain on the Y, Pb and Pr channels.
Image Over Scan: Image Over Scan pushes the outside edge of the active picture area
of the video signal out beyond the edge of the display area.
Some television programs are produced based on the assumption that older television
sets may not display the outer edges of the broadcast picture area. Over scan effectively
trims away these inactive, outer edges and enlarges the remaining portion of the image to
fill the display area.
Use the on-screen slidebar to select the desired amount of over scan.
For HDTV, DVDs and other video sources, Image Over Scan is generally not necessary or
desirable.
Image Shift: The Image Shift menu allows you to precisely center the image on the
screen. (These controls are available only with a 480i source signal.)
• Horizontal: This control moves the image right or left within the area of available pixels.
• Vertical: This option moves the image up or down within the area of available pixels.
